Certified Copy of Birth Certificate on file: Born 7 May 1899 at 31 Windsor Rd, Evesham, Worcestershire. Father: Charles James GANDER, Joiner and Carpenter. Mother: Alice GANDER formerly MANT. Harry attended Commercial School, Stratford-on-Avon. Trade given (Apr 1917) as Motor Engineer. Originally attested for Short Service with the Inns of Court Officer Training Corps on 14 Apr 1917 aged 17 years and 342 days. (Confidential Report 1917: Standard of Education - Average; Military Knowledge - Above Average; Power of Command and Leadership - Average; Remarks - Satisfactory - rather slow on parade.
