Tracing the GANDER and GANDAR lines is an enjoyable hobby for me, something I do in my spare time. I'll always respond to enquiries to this One-Name Study but sometimes I won't be able to respond straightaway.
I've tried to keep this issue in proportion. Although indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths Registrations for example are in the public domain and available for anyone to consult, I understand if some people would feel uneasy were they to come across information about them available to all and sundry on a web site. So although some recent dates of births etc for my own line will be on this web site, I've decided not to list records of other GANDERs and GANDARs if
1. they are less than 40 years since Death
2. more recent than 50 years with regard to Births and Marriages.
Apart from my own line, I won't be listing other GANDER/GANDAR family trees on this site. I am usually willing to share what I know if you contact me directly - and the emphasis is on *share*! (I mention the latter as I have received the odd e-mail in the past which in effect asked me to 'send all I know' by return...).
Now, if you e-mail me and I'm able to help, I may ask if you have a genealogy program and if so what program as I may be able then to send you information in a GEDCOM file format geared for your program (- if you don't know what a GEDCOM file is, don't worry!).
If you receive a GEDCOM file from me I do ask 2 things:
1. If you in turn want to pass this information on, please don't separate the 'Source' information from the Individual or Marriage information. Doing this will make all the information genealogically worthless - sources of information must be capable of being checked by another.
2. again, if you should pass this information on to another, please acknowledge the original source of your information.
